flipping - Drug slang term for when you mix
LSD and MDMA (or MDA); Ecstasy and Acid. |

- Any of the active principles of Cannabis Sativa (marijuana),
including, but not limited to, THC. |

defects - The result of learned behavior from

the dragon - Street slang for inhaling vapors
of heroin or cocaine heated on tin foil. |

dependency - 1. Physical addiction to a drug
or substance, such as alcohol or heroine, that results
in biological changes (including withdrawl) if discontinued
suddenly. 2. Any condition resulting from dependency
on or abuse of a psychoactive substance as described
in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,
Fourth Edition-Revised, (DSM-IV-R), or subsequent revisions,
published by the American Psychiatric Association. |

- Street slang for heroin. |

White - Slang for a very pure form of white
heroin that was popular in the U.S. during the Viet
Nam era. |

- Slang for using heroin on an occasional basis. |

- Street slang for heroin. |

chronic
- 1. Being such habitually or for a prolonged period
of time. 2. Slang for very potent marijuana. |

cirrhosis
- A condition characterized by widespread nodules in
the liver combined with fibrosis. The fibrosis and nodule
formation causes distortion of the normal liver architecture
which interferes with blood flow through the liver.

clean
time - Consecutive days without using drugs.
|
|
clonidine
- A drug, ordinarily used for treating high blood pressure
that reduces the distress of narcotic withdrawal. Brand
name is Catapres. |

club
drugs - Drugs such as MDMA (Ecstasy), GHB,
Rohypnol and ketamine that are used by young adults
at all-night dance parties such as "raves"
or "trances," dance clubs and bars. |

cocaine
- An extremely potent and dependence-producing stimulant
drug, derived from the coca leaf. |

cocaine
psychosis - A set of symptoms, including hallucinations,
paranoia, and disordered thinking, produced from chronic
use of cocaine. |

codeine
- Opiate drug used primarily to treat coughing and manage
pain. |
|
codependency
- A concept that individuals who live with a person
having an alcohol (or other drug) dependence suffer
themselves from difficulties of self-image and social
independence. |

cognitive-affective
therapy - An approach to treatment that avoids
childhood and/or unconscious causes of present behavior
in favour of examining the counselee's present assumptions
about life. |

come-down
- To experience the gradual wearing off of the effects
of a drug after experiencing a 'high'. |
|
commitment
- A decision to stick with something, often made by
people who are in recovery. |
|
compulsive
- The type of behavior a person exhibits that is overpowering,
repeated, and often irrational. |
|
confidentiality
- An agreement that the information that you share with
someone will not be shared with others without your
permission. |
|
conflict
of interest - A situation where self interest
could negatively impact the best interests of the person
being served or the system. |
| cop - Street
slang for purchasing narcotics. |

counseling
- Advice; opinion or instruction regarding the judgement
or conduct of another. |

counselor
- A person who gives counsel; an adviser. |

crack
- Otherwise known as crack-cocaine |
crank
- Street slang for amphetamines. |
craving
- An intense desire for something (also called "psychologic
dependence") |

meth - Methamphetamime, also known as "crystal,"
"meth," "speed" or "ice."
