naloxone - Used in “the emergency treatment of narcotic-overdose situations. naloxone reverses] the depressed breathing and blood pressure in a matter of a minute or so, an effect so fast that emergency-room specialists view the reaction as ‘miraculous’”.
 
naltrexone - An opiate antagonist used to treat alcohol dependence, works both by reducing the urge to consume alcohol and by making drinking less pleasurable.
 
narcotics - A general term technically referring to opiate-related or opiate-derived drugs. It is often mistakenly used to include several other illicit drug categories as well”.
 
Narcotics Anonymous - A Twelve Step recovery program for individuals addicted to drugs other than alcohol or tobacco.
 
neurotransmitter - A natural chemical released by one neuron to influence or communicate with another. Acetylcholine, dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin, GABA, etc.
 
newcomer - A person new or returning to a 12-Step Program after a relapse.
 
nickel bag - Street slang for $5 worth of drugs.
 
nitrous oxide - An analgesic gas commonly used in modern dentistry. It is also referred to as "laughing gas".
 
nod - Slang for the euphoric semiconscious state that opiates produce.
 
Normie - A person who is not addicted to anything and has no addictive traits.
