Detoxification centers that consistently score high marks in consumer satisfaction focus their resources on three critical areas:
- Managing withdrawal symptoms

Psychological withdrawal symptoms like anxiety and depression can be just as debilitating as physical withdrawal symptoms.

Suboxone Detox
Suboxone detox is a Buprenorphine HCl centered detoxification program designed to eliminate the anxiety and physical discomfort of opiate withdrawals. Suboxone has been used since 2002 to treat opiate addiction. It has four benefits that make it the most successful opiate detox program ever.
These four are:
- Eliminate Pain
- Help People Stay in Treatment
- Reduce Relapse
- Reduce Overdose
Women's Detox
Women run much greater risks specific to gender than their male counterparts. Sexual assault, birth defects and early onset of menopause are some of the obvious problems that women face who suffer with alcoholism and drug addiction. It is also true that women are generally smaller in stature and have less water per kilogram of body weight than their male counterparts. These two facts make using one gram of any drug much more likely to produce lethality for a female than it may for a male using the same drug, at the same time, under the same circumstances.
Women are at a natural disadvantage than males when it comes to eliminating toxins from their body and this fact causes more physical damage for women drug users than any other.
- Women become addicts and alcoholics easier than men
- Women have more difficult detoxifications than men
- Women under the influence are sexually assaulted more than men
- Women under the influence age faster than men
The Opiate Detox Project
The Opiate Detox Project is a medically supervised opiate detoxification and treatment program designed to painlessly and safely eliminate opiate withdrawal symptoms. The Opiate Detox Project is working to save lives and help families stay together.
The Opiate Detox Project was designed by physicians who themselves were opiate users.
The two main goals of their opiate detoxification program are:
- Eliminate opiate withdrawal symptoms
- Diffuse opiate cravings
Methadone Clinic Nightmare
Methadone clinic treatment programs come in two modalities:
- Detoxification
- Maintenance
The first line of opiate treatment with the use of methadone is methadone detox. This usually lasts 28 days or less. Methadone detox is often used to treat heroin addiction and prescription opiate addiction. Most methadone clinics start clients on a low dose of methadone then raise the dose until their client is stabilized. Most detox programs will never exceed 60 ml of methadone per day and will drop precipitously after their client is stabilized. Many opiate users who are participating in a methadone detox program find themselves unable to manage their lives effectively when their daily dose drops below 20 ml. It is at this point when many opiate users drop out of their methadone detox program and go back to their drug of choice (heroin, oxycontin, roxicodone). In other words they relapse.
The second, final and most addictive opiate addiction treatment program is methadone maintenance, known as opiate replacement therapy. Opiate replacement therapy causes methadone addiction. Using long-term narcotic therapy for long-term narcotic addiction is specious at best. Methadone replacement therapy can produce disastrous results for many opiate addicts who might otherwise have been served better with residential detox, residential treatment program, short-term detox or some other modality. Methadone maintenance should be undertaken with the knowledge that this is a very dangerous treatment option.
Crack Cocaine Detox
Cocaine destroys the body, including the brain and cardiovascular system. Brain damage caused by cocaine use can change a person’s personality and will result in a marked degradation in mental acuity.
Crack Cocaine Detox Programs that are well versed in cocaine addiction recognize the need for physician oversight, nutritional supplementation, hydration therapy and rest. Cocaine treatment is a simple program but very few cocaine addicts recognize the real dangers of their cocaine use. Most cocaine users will only stop when they go to jail, die or make a 180 degree turn in perception.
Cocaine users are in a perpetual state of game playing. They find themselves lying more and more, stealing more and more and going to jail more and more. They just cannot see what everyone around them can and that is they are killing themselves in a slow and methodical manner with no way out except to accept outside help and usually for an extended period of time.
Often times a push from family and friends is necessary to get a cocaine addict into a cocaine detoxification treatment center.
Crystal Methamphetamine Detox
Crystal meth detox is fairly easy compared to many other types of drug detoxification programs. They generally sleep through the first few days and then feel they are well and can go back and start life where they left off. Nothing could be further from the truth. Meth users are so caught up in their own self deception they cannot distinguish between the true from the false. Methamphetamine stimulates the most primitive parts of the brain and then hijacks it. Procreation, regeneration of species and sexual stimulation are part and parcel to crystal meth addiction. Their brains, specifically their subconscious mind, is literally hijacked by this pernicious drug and only time away from meth use can reduce the cravings enough to where normal life can thrive again. Generally a substitute behavior, i.e. employment, exercise, yoga, religion, 12 Steps, etc… must be incorporated into a meth users lifestyle to permanently overcome crystal meth cravings.
Crystal Meth is called the sex drug. It causes women to engage in sexual congress they would never consider in a sober state. Men can find themselves in sexual behavior they never thought they would ever partake including homosexual behavior. In fact, meth use is at epidemic levels in many gay and lesbian neighborhoods. Some male meth users actually find themselves with another addiction – sex addiction. This is a very common side-effect of crystal meth use and may need separate and long-term treatment to lead normal lives.
